We're home!
I put it up a couple weeks ago....
Slight problem this year. Only two sections of the built in clear lights worked. AFter pricing artificial and live trees, we decided to strip the lights off the tree and replace them. My youngest wanted colored lights so we obliged him just this once. I DO NOT like the colored lights after years of clear ones. It looks so dark! So next year it will be clear and I'm buying them after Christmas on clearance. Yay!

We ran into someone the other day who buys all new lights ever year. Okay, that's not in the budget for us! We have to recycle those lights!

Merry Christmas!
We try to wait for snow so we can enjoy the full experience of cutting a tree down in the woods, but I was too anxious this year and got ours the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Our wild balsam doesn't look like most trees - more of a Charlie Brown feel to it (except for the height - it's 9 feet), but I love it.
Usually we put the lights and wooden cranberry garland on when the kids are sleeping and then decorate together as a family. I like the simplicity of white lights and no ornaments, but the beauty of a wild balsam is that the ornaments can fit all the way to the trunk so they aren't so concentrated on the tips.
I'm sorry your lights aren't working. That's frustrating. I guess they don't make them like they used to. Julia's pink lights are at least 9 years old and still going strong.
My hubby had to run out in the middle of decorating to get more lights too. Three of our strings weren't working either. ;)
We get a real tree every year, we got it Sunday evening and put it up before bed. I think that's going on my blog today. I need some new deco but I'm waiting until the after Christmas sales this year to stock up!
Your tree is very purty, even if it is from two years ago. teehee =)
I posted pictures of both of them, in different posts:

Oh well, I like the handmade things the boys make at school better than all the fancy glass ones anyhow!

I posted a pic of ours on Thanksgiving weekend. You probably saw it... ; )
We just have a tiny wrought iron tree skeleton--but it's still fun! And I put ornaments on our dried branches that are in vases...does that count?
;)
Yours looks very, very pretty though!
