I LOVE your babywearing stash. No one could ever have too many, in my book. Blessings!
  • Thomasin · 6 months ago
Yes! I'd love to read a 101 post. I'll be checking back... ;-)
  • Romberg Family · 6 months ago
You say some are hand made...i would love to know how to make my own! I dont have any and they are little pricey for me to buy. I have always wanted one though
  • Liz @ My Full Cup · 6 months ago
I definitely would love a 101 post. :) And I also want to know which are your favorites? I want to get one that will work well to have my 15 month old on my back. I usually just wear her on my hip, but I am thinking she would like being on my back as well. :)
  • amanda · 6 months ago
I think this is my first comment, but I've been reading for a while. You have a lovely family.

I would love a babywearing 101 post. So, is the principle of babywearing that you wear them ALL of the time? Is it like attachment parenting? Do I even really understand attachment parenting, no, but I basically understand it to mean you are with and available to your children within seconds 24/7 and this makes them more independent in adulthood (probably a completely false description) . So, yes, please explain!
  • Bridget · 6 months ago
I have 5 kiddo's and today at my daughters bday party I was wearing my 10mo old(because she likes to be held) but I needed both hands to run things....anyway, everyone thought she was too big to be carried in a sling. How long do you babywear your babies???
  • Bridget · 6 months ago
I would love to hear what babywearing is all about...please share IF you have time:)
  • Rissa · 6 months ago
I'd love for you to do a 101 post. I've learned a lot with my boys but there is ALWAYS more to learn. :)

I can only think of 2 Qs off the top of my head...how do you get used to nursing in a carrier?? Still struggling with that one, although we successfully nursed in my wrap today! I'm just intimidated! And what kind of wardrobe is most conducive to in-sling/carrier-nursing? I have nursing tanks but I don't really want to wear one every single day! ;)

I love your stash - and you have my favorite photos yet!!
  • Elizabeth G · 6 months ago
Looking forward to your post!! I'm interested in the different kinds in your stash. My 4th child (4.5 months) is no longer interested in either of the ones I have now and would love to see different options, as it is making it very difficult with her not wanting to be in it to get much done!!
  • Erin · 6 months ago
I would love it! I am going to try baby wearing with my next baby!! I cant wait!
  • Margaret · 6 months ago
Yes, I'd love a post on babywearing! I have a Moby wrap for my 4-month-old, which I love, but which requires a lot of effort to put on/take off, so I don't take it out many places. NOw that my daughter is starting to have more head control, I'd like to get one that's easier to use. Also, here's a rather unique problem- I live in Phoenix, where 110 this time of year is the norm... which types of carriers don't hold the baby pressed up too close to you? The Moby wrap holds her close and has many layers of fabric... too hot for this time of year?

I also didn't remember to write in for your 'questions' post... so since you're doing another one... ;-)

Can you tell a bit about Gavin and Vance? What are their personalities like? How do you avoid them having 'middle child' issues like wanting more attention, when you've got Grayson to lead the way and the girls to take care of?

What state are you in? (I'm a fairly new reader). Your pictures always look so green... we in Phoenix envy greenery!

    Thanks! :-)

I would LOVE to know more about babywearing twins--I haven't been able to wear mine that often. I have a moby wrap, but they didn't like to be worn together in it--I guess the key is seperate carriers? They are 8 months now. I also have a baby bjorn (2 actually), and I don't see much about those on babywearing blogs--are they bad? Thanks so much!!! LOVE this blog!!!

I LOVE how you've photographed them! You have a beautiful stash. Oh, I hope we get to hang out in person some day!

    Hi,
I've been reading your blog for a long time now but have never commented. I enjoy reading it so much :)
I would love if you would share your tips on babywearing. I have a nine month old son and I never got the hang of the sling... I wish I had tried harder or knew what to do!
  • The Thompson Family · 6 months ago
I would also love a babywearing post and was actually hoping you would list your favorites--like top 3 must haves. I really want to get a Ergo carrier with my next baby and recently used a great pattern to make a ring sling. I tried a traditional sling and felt like it was too restrictive and difficult to manuveur. Really, if I were to invest in a good carrier, which one is most versitile for all ages and comfortable for the parent & child? I know this is all probably an individual choice, but in your opinion.

Thanks...and I love checking in on your blog.
  • Desiree Fawn · 6 months ago
    What a fabulous stash!!
  • Sarah @ BecomingSarah.com · 6 months ago
Yes, absolutely, I want to read the 101 post! We've bought a couple carriers to start off with for this baby and I am saving tips from all over the Internet, especially from Steph's site. I'd love to see what you have to say as well!
  • Liz (Loving Mom 2 Boys) · 6 months ago
Oh how I love wearing my baby....I fear the day he is too big to wear. Right now all I have is a Zolo Ring sling, but I adore it so much I have no interest in any other right now. I am hoping to have a third (and maybe fourth) some day with those I would like to get something a little more infant friendly - I would love to see your suggestions.

    {oh...I also plan on making some - I would really like to make a Mei Tai and another ring sling}
  • Jessica · 6 months ago
I would love to read about this! I loved the pic you posted the other day of you wearing the girls. I have four kids four and under. I was wondering if you ever wore 2 of your boys together... or do you just wear the girls together because they are twins? I have a 16 month old and a 2 month old that both love to be held.

Also, what sling is best for nursing in? My boys like to run wild right when I sit down to nurse... (I think they know that I can't run after them!) It would be nice to be able to play with the boys while nursing our little girl!

    Thanks!!
  • Mashel · 6 months ago
wow, I was thinking, "really a babywearing post, isn't it simple...wear your babies, don't put them in a bucket, it is much, much better for them and you" but then reading your comments, it seems that many people don't know how important this is. Funny that we are the only culture that doesn't just wear their babies as second nature! Instead we stick them in buckets (infant carseats) and various foreign baby seats, and think it is normal....hmm....
  • Lauren · 6 months ago
I would definitely love to read a baby wearing 101 post! I am expecting baby #3 and plan to breastfeed. With two little boys already, I think it would be much easier to breastfeed with a carrier! So please, please give me tips! What carrier is best for breastfeeding?

    Thanks!
  • Anonymous · 6 months ago
Oh, please share more! I'm expecting #3 and with two little ones (oldest is just 3) already I need a carrier/sling that will let me be up and busy with baby! I have a ring sling which I'm not wild about, and a fleece pouch which was frankly just too hot. I'm thinking Moby Wrap for the newborn stage and then, I'm absolutely drooling over that kokopax of yours! Love the backpack idea.

Will you share the homemade Mei Tai tutorial that you used. PLEASE
  • Jaime · 6 months ago
I don't have kids (yet), but I do want to wear them...probably for convenience if anything. Is that why you wear yours? Or is there another reason besides convenience (not having to carry them around everywhere, etc.)?

I also want to know...if you had to choose ONE item from your stash to keep, and throw the rest away, what would you keep? I'll probably only get one and I want to know your top recommendation on style/brand.

    THANKS!
  • InDeeds · 6 months ago
I also don't have any kids to wear yet - but am very much looking forward babywearing. It really does seem the most convenient way to carry babies...until I went grocery shopping with a friend who has a little one. She was her carseat and my friend just popped out the car seat, and snapped it onto the grocery cart - the baby slept for the whole shopping trip...and it got me thinking - if we had pulled her out of her carseat and into a sling - she likely would have woken up and possibly have been more difficult to shop with. Are there times when you think it is easier not to babywear, but to use a stroller, or carseat or something?
  • Jennifer · 6 months ago
Can you directions on the homemade Mei Tai?
  • Hilary · 6 months ago
With my baby girl coming soon, I am really interested in baby wearing this time around. I only did it a few times with Isaac...just never got into it for some reason.
I for one would love a post AND...could you share with me which sling/carrier you would just HAVE to have? If you had to pick just one, you know. I want to get a sling...but there are so many options!
    Thanks, girl!

    Blessings....
  • Amy · 6 months ago
How do you decide who gets up front? That would be hard because I really love kissing on my little girls head while wearing her! I thought I had too many and I only have 4.
  • Kaycee · 6 months ago
LOVE the pics! What a fun way to show your stash!

My babywearing question is what do you suggest for babywearing a toddler? My daughter is 14 months old and LOVES to be carried on my hip (hates being carried in the front). I have a Mei Tai that my amazing Mom figured out how to made - which looks and works exactly like a real one. However, I have a hard time doing a hip carry with it easily. I would love some suggestions on an alternative baby carrier specifically for hip carrying a toddler! :) THANKS!

I'd love to see a babywearing101 post!! i'd love to see how you made the mei tai or at least where you found the pattern, etc.

I LOVE wearing my boys, but I have never been able to manage both well. I would love to hear how you get both on safely.
I also would like to know what carrier works well when they are bigger. Right now I only have a Bijorn & a cheap Target sling. I use the sling to hip/front carrier most of the time, but they are starting to "outgrow" it.
  • Natalie · 6 months ago
I asked you previously how the heck to you get both those babies on your bod? Do you have help or manage on your own?
  • Alli · 6 months ago
Wow! That is quite the stash. Love how you displayed them for us!
  • Misty Rice · 6 months ago
Want to come and do mine next?
  • Courtney Kay · 6 months ago
yes! please do a baby wearing 101 post! I can't wait to wear my own babies someday and I love practicing with the babies I borrow from others!
  • JenT · 6 months ago
How do you keep from getting so hot? I tried it with my 6th and we got hot a lot.
  • Jenny · 6 months ago
    Awesome stash!

My daughter hated the slings and wraps. She would scream bloody murder whenever I'd try them out. I think a lot of it had to do with her reflux problems.
  • MOMMY-MOMO · 6 months ago
dang that IS a stash girl! I used like 2. hehe. def will use more my next baby...

I have 1 homemade ring sling given to me by a great friend. However I can never feel "right" wearing it. Should I actually buy another or am I just wearing it wrong?

I would love to read a babwearing 101 post. I've attempted to wear my son in a baby sling that I made but I just can't seem to figure it out. Looking forward to your post!!

pregnant with third child...would love a babywearing post b/c i never perfected it with my first two and i have a feeling that i will need to have this baby attatched to my hip as it will be my 3rd baby in 3 years! thanks
  • Julie · 6 months ago
I have several also but none seem to work well for me. My head starts hurting in no time.

I have a Baby Kangoroo, a Mei Tei, a backpack (which only dh uses) and a few more that I never use either (gifts). I would love to be able to wear my babies more but I cannot handle a three day headache after each time I try. I do have a friend that sells some Mei Tei and more and she did show me how to use them but still, my head hurts in no time.

Any help would be appreciated. Although I am pg right now and will not wear my 20mo but when my new son is born, I will want to try, again.

    Thanks,

    Julie

That's a great stash you've got there! Lots of pretty carriers. And I know what you mean about how it doesn't seem like that many when they're all spread out. :)

Holy.Cow. I knew you had quite a few things but W.O.W.!!!! And, surprisingly enough, since I'm "all up in your business" all the time LOL!, even I haven't seen some of those! tee-hee! Are you taking all of them on your trip?? Paul will for sure have to agree to a car-top carrier just for your baby carriers! :-)
  • Judy · 6 months ago
I am pregnant and due in September. This will be my first baby I wear : )
If you could chose just one baby carrier to invest in first, which one would you recommend?

  • Katie and Oresti · 6 months ago
yes, please do a post on babywearing and could you address wearing twins because I'm expecting twins in November and I'm just not sure what is the best carrier to use when they are little. I've heard that the moby wrap is good when they are small but I see you don't have that one. Have you heard anything about the moby, how good it is? Do you have other reccommendations for wearing twins when they're tiny? And do you think it would be safe to just make a moby by myself and what kind of fabric? lots of questions:)
    thanks!

    beautiful stash!
I have 4 carriers (different types)- I just ordered a BabyHawk and I've been told it's the last one I'm allowed to buy. lol

    different question-
I have breastfed all 5 of my babies for about a full year. With most of them I was pregnant again before they were a year old, but only one didn't want to nurse anymore at that point. I've never had a problem with lacking milk- until now! My youngest is 9 months old and seems to have trouble getting enought. I am so not ready to be done nursing especially since I don't know if we'll have any more! She squirms and pulls especially in the evening and then will suck down a bottle of formula- any advice??

Pretty cool stuff for babies these days. I'm done having babies, but love to see yours and all the stuff you share about your family. My kids are 12 and almost 14. We are entering high school next year, I can't believe it. These kids were just babies! Well I guess not.
My scrap books keep them young for me. I guess I need to catch up on the scrapbooking.
    More later.

I would LOVE a Babywearing 101 post!! I just started wearing my 9-month-old a few months ago with my first sling. I'm such a newbie still, though, that I'd love some simple tips. I desperately want another wrap or sling, but DH thinks if I have one, why need another!?
  • Elaine A. · 6 months ago
Wow, looks like you have a lot of wonderful babywearing options. So, which one is your favorite?
  • Upstatemomof3 · 6 months ago
See I need to show this to Hubby he thinks my pitiful stash of three (and one is terribly uncomfortable and unusable if you ask me) is plenty. I so want a few more. A few to have around the house, a prettier one to go nicer places in and even some different types.
  • Keisha Coconut · 6 months ago
I confess that during my pregnancy the weight of my babies had me so sore that the last thing I thought I wanted to do, once they were born, was wear them.

Well, now that they are here, and I can stand up for more than 5 minutes at a time, my feelings have changed. So, yes, I'd like to read a "Baby Wearing 101" post. :)
  • Dina · 6 months ago
Hi, I love the baby slings and would love to own a couple but what i found are a little pricey and also then there is the shipping costs which makes them even more pricey for me. Would you share how you made your home made ones.
  • Carrie · 6 months ago
Neat stash - I have that same 'old' blue backpack - I used it for my son until he weighed 20 pounds & I thought I would collapse. :) Now i have a Patapum instead. :)

Here's my babywearing question - how do you wrap a child on your back? Nothing is working for me & my 18-month-old - I've only tried a couple times, because he gets SO frustrated easily with it. I guess I'm wondering how you get him up there in the first place.

I just love all your wraps. I can't wait to see read the blog on it!
  • Melissa Cummings · 6 months ago
I'm a big babywearing mama too! My son and I love it - and hubby even does too. I liked the Moby when my son was tiny, but after he was about 12 pounds, not so much. I like my Ellaroo woven wrap the best, and it's so easy to lift my one-year-old onto my back and tie him on (my favorite tie is "rucksack with a twist" - tell people to youtube how to use wraps). Then my second favorite is my Babyhawk mei tai. So easy, so quick. I do all my errands like this, and most of the housework, unless it's naptime. And even when pregnant now with another, I still wear my son. I'm looking forward to wearing both of my kids in a few months! :)
Love your blog, and the blessing you are to me.
    Thank you.

I have a 3 month old that I have tried to wear in a pouch, but every time I do my back hurts (and for days after). What am I doing wrong? What carriers are easier on the back & shoulder neck? I have tried several carriers and can't seem to find one that's comfortable???
